Technology Overview
OHSU # 1222 — Bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clone containing the genome of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) TR strain
Technology Overview
The TR BAC was prepared from the TR clinical HCMV isolate. This virus is resistant to ganciclovir and cidofovir and lacks UL97 codons 591-594. The BAC clone was generated by substituting BAC DNA for the US2-US5 region of the TR genome. The TR strain infects almost any diploid endothelial or epithelial cell as well as macrophages. This strain is useful for studies on HCMV including genetic studies.
