Diet, Microbiome and Interval Breast Cancer Study

Study Purpose

The goal of this study is to reduce the risk of breast cancer and identify novel risk factors and biomarkers for non-screen-detected breast cancers including interval breast cancers, those diagnosed within 2 years after last normal mammogram.

Eligibility Criteria

BREAST CANCER PARTICIPANT INCLUSION CRITERIA
• Female participants
• Age 20-89 years old
• English Speaking
• Biopsy confirmed diagnosis of breast cancer and before any treatment (surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy)
• For non-screen-detected breast cancer including interval breast cancer patients, breast cancer was first detected not because of routine screening mammogram.
• For screen-detected breast cancer patients, breast cancer was diagnosed through routine mammogram screening.
• Verbally consent over the phone or signed informed consent through REDCap

4.2 NON-CANCER CONTROL PARTICIPANT INCLUSION CRITERIA
• Female participants
• Age over 20-89 years old
• English Speaking
• For 45-89 years old, have had a routine mammogram with non-suspicious results within the past 2 years.
• No record of inflammatory bowel disease or diverticulitis, gastric banding or by-pass surgery
• No record of history of other gastric or intestinal surgery (such as appendicitis) within the previous 6 months
• Verbal consent over the phone or signed informed consent through REDCap
