A Prospective Comparative Study of Outcomes with Proton and Photon Radiation in Prostate Cancer (COMPPARE)

Study Purpose

The main objectives of the study are to compare prostate cancer patients treated with proton therapy to prostate cancer patients treated with photon therapy. To do this, patients will complete surveys about their quality of life and side effects associated with their radiation therapy treatment.

Prostate cancer

Eligibility Criteria

Age 30-80 with diagnosed prostate cancer, no prior radiation therapy or surgery to the prostate, no other active inflammatory bowel disease.

Age Range

30 - 85

Healthy Volunteers Needed

Duration of Participation

Up to 10 years. Participation will exactly follow the standard of care schedule.

Compensation

Patients will earn $50 at various visit they complete questionnaires. This amounts to $250 for the initial 3 years and up to $600 over the entire 10 years.
