A Pilot Study to Assess Feasibility of Hypofractionation and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Awaiting Liver Transplantation

Study Purpose

The purpose of this study is to see if the addition of radiation therapy to the liver is a safe and practical treatment for patients with liver cancer and cirrhosis who are awaiting liver transplantation.

Medical Condition(s)

Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) and liver cirrhosis

Eligibility Criteria

18 years and older; diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma and recommended for liver transplant; diagnosis of liver cirrhosis; no prior radiotherapy to the abdomen.

Age Range

18 - 100

Healthy Volunteers Needed

No

Duration of Participation

The portion of the study treatment (radiation therapy) lasts only for 2 weeks. After that you are followed until disease progression, transplant, or two years after radiation therapy, whichever comes first..
