Group Exercise Training for Fall Prevention and Functional Improvements During and After Treatment for Prostate Cancer

Study Purpose

GET FIT Prostate is a research study that will compare the physical benefits of three different types of exercise programs for prostate cancer survivors treated with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). Men who participate in this study will be asked to participate in one of three exercise classes: 1) functional strength, 2) functional balance (similar to “tai chi”), or 3) functional mobility.

prostate cancer, androgen deprivation therapy, falls, frailty

Eligibility Criteria

You may qualify for this study if you have ever received androgen deprivation therapy (a type of treatment to lower testosterone levels in your body and often called “hormone therapy”) for your prostate cancer.

18 - 100

Compensation

Participants will receive $10 for completion of each study appointment (up to $40)
Participants may receive up to $50 for attendance to to each of the 3-month portions of the intervention, for a total of up to $100.
