Molecular Mechanisms of Tumor Evolution and Resistance to Therapy

Principal Investigator

Gordon Mills

Study Purpose

The purpose of this study is to set up steps or procedures that can be used by researchers and doctors to get biopsy of cancer and blood samples from participants with localized, advanced, or metastatic cancer (including but not limited to solid tumors such as breast, prostate, or pancreatic cancer, as well as those with liquid tumors such as acute myeloid leukemia).

The steps or procedures include tests looking at specific DNA mutations that cause and propagate cancer. These tests are aimed to find mutations that can be targeted by specific drugs that are referred to as "targeted agents". Some of these tests are clinical tests that are conducted in an approved laboratory at OHSU. Other tests are experimental in nature and will not be reported back to the patient.

This is an observational study and does not provide treatment based on the results of these tests. Any treatment decisions are outside the scope of this study, in consultation with the patient and their doctor.
