The Use of Dynamic Contrast Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE MRI) in the Management of Pancreatic Cancer
The purpose of this study is to see if a method of imaging can help us to better diagnose pancreatic cancer.
1. Patients that are at high risk for familial or hereditary pancreatic cancer who are consented to the OPTR registry will undergo study MRI scans with the same frequency as they would for normal care until at the time they may need to undergo a surgical resection. Patients within this group will have between 1 and 3 scans over the course of 1 – 2 years.
2. Patients identified as having a high risk lesion on regular imaging scans that meet the criteria for surgery and who are consented to the OPTR registry will undergo one study MRI scan prior to surgery.
3. Patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma who will undergo chemotherapy prior to surgical resection and who are consented to the OPTR registry will undergo two study MRI scans, one prior to chemotherapy and one following the completion of the chemotherapy in addition to the standard imaging studies.
4. Participants identified as healthy volunteers who have no contraindications to DCE-MRI will undergo a single DCE-MRI scan.
Participants will be identified in a study investigator’s surgery clinic and screened for inclusion in the study if they have no personal or family history of pancreatic disease, and if they meet eligibility for study enrollement

Duration of Participation
If you join the study, your participation will involve a minimum of two visits, up to a maximum of four visits depending on the therapy you are receiving. The initial visit will last no more than one hour. There will be one MRI visit that will last no more than three hours. The time required for the MRI scan is expected to be about 90 minutes. The optional third and fourth visit with additional MRI scans may be a possibility depending on the therapy you are receiving. If there is a possibility of an optional second and third MRI scan, you will be asked if you would like to participate.
