LETTER FROM LEADERSHIP
In our efforts to end preventable blindness, we are leveraging advances in community care, technology and faculty growth to better serve people in Oregon and beyond. We are grateful for the opportunity to share exciting work from a few of our programs in this year's Innovations.

ADVANCING SURGERY
Researchers discovered circulating hybrid cells present in the blood of patients with ocular melanoma. Measuring the levels of these hybrid cells at initial diagnosis was shown to predict which patients have cancer that eventually spreads outside the eye.
INSIDE THE LAB
Led by the ophthalmic genetics team at Casey Eye Institute, the Retinal Stem Cell Center is building a repository of stem cell lines from patients with inherited retinal diseases to do pre-clinical trial research that advances new treatments.
REIMAGINING COMMUNITY CARE
The Oregon Vision Health Network will increase access to vision screenings, promote early detection, and enhance care coordination to overcome barriers to accessing eye care for communities who are at the highest risk for blindness.
LEADING THE FIELD
Bold and collaborative ideas are needed to face our most pressing vision health challenges. From improving residency education, to advancing biomedical imaging techniques, to celebrating the 20th anniversary of a visionary preschool vision screening program, it's the people who are moving eye care innovations forward.
